| Bettina Hagemann, Sabine Rau, Andreas Heuser and Stefan Emde extend the musical range of traditional string ensembles. With electric violins, electronics and playful imagination violet quartet goes on musical trips to all continents and into outer space. Using various playing techniques and electronics they change their violins into percussion-set, synthesizer or electric bass. Violet quartet`s members had studied classical music, jazz, improvisation, klezmer and different kinds of ethnic music. They mix it all together creating their individual style. Rumanian doinas, Caribbean impressions and jazz do coexist with string ballads, minimal music and sound collages. Live, violet quartet usually plays "surround concerts", with the audience in the middle and the four violet quartet musicians placed arround the audience. |
